Fire Logistics Dispatcher

This position serves as a Fire Logistics Dispatcher located in an interagency dispatch center. Duties may include but are not limited to:
Serves as dispatcher, receiving, filling and tracking resources requests for fire and other emergency incidents. Maintains resource status and tracking system and operates telecommunication systems. Records and maintains communication logs involving all telephone and two-way radio communication. Consolidates and inputs fire weather data into weather application software and relays probabilities and forecasts to field personnel and management staff. Maintains data in multiple fire-related computer applications. Provides critical logistical support information to the supervisor or makes recommendations concerning the efficient use of available resources. Gathers information for the development and maintenance of the dispatch mobilization guide and internal dispatch operating guides. Physical Demands and Work Environment - Work is performed primarily in an office setting, involving long hours of sitting, intense concentration, with irregular breaks and mealtimes. During peak activity, increased radio traffic, numerous ringing phones, and conversation may create a stressful environment, requiring the ability to keep calm in emergency situations. Must be able to cope with the pressure of meeting time frames and changing priorities. Mental concentration and accuracy required. Vehicle and aircraft travel associated with field visits and other administrative travel may be required. In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled. GS-04 - To qualify for the GS-04 you must possess at least 1 year of general experience in any type of work that demonstrates your ability to perform dispatching work or experience that provided you with the familiarity with the process of dispatching. OR Successful completion of two years of education above the high school level directly related to the position. OR A combination of specialized experience and education. GS-05 - To qualify for the GS-05 you must posses at least 1 year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience may include; performing dispatching duties for wild land fire, fire departments, police, or other emergency services, processing requests for resources, consolidating and inputting data using computer programs, and recording and maintaining communication logs, experience in emergency operations or management. OR Successful completion a four year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree directly related to the position. OR A combination of specialized experience and education. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
