gov Responsibilities Provide program input into a natural resources management planning processes for work plans on wilderness, trails and special uses activities.
Coordinate with other natural resource disciplines to ensure program requirements are included in the project planning and execution.
Conduct surveys and studies of wilderness areas, recreation facilities, trails for rehabilitation plans.
Gather information and project cost on maintenance of wilderness areas, trails, and recreation facilities for rehabilitation plans.
Participate in the development of long and short-range plans of wilderness, trails, special uses and recreation resources for agency guidelines and direction.
Develop work plans for usage of wilderness areas, construction and maintenance of trails, parking areas, trailhead facilities, campgrounds, and other developed recreation sites.
Analyze and interpret data to formulate recommendations to achieve management objectives and policies.
Initiate contact with the public to educate visitors and protect resources.
Communicate agency management practices, rules, and regulations to the public for education on wilderness, trails, special uses and recreation activities.
Participate in the development and delivery of wilderness education programs for the local community.

For the GS-9 level:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 grade level.
Examples of specialized experience are meeting one or more of the following:
Participated in surveys and studies of wilderness areas, recreation facilities, trails; Inspected wilderness and recreation special uses, and administered special use authorizations for outfitter and guides and recreation events; Maintained Wilderness and Trails databases to reflect on-going management; Worked with volunteer groups and partners to accomplish plan of work; Recruited new volunteers and partners to accomplish plan of work; Led work groups compromised of agency employees, volunteers, and partner groups while accomplishing trail work and Wilderness monitoring; Developed a plan of work for Trails and Wilderness resources.
; OR a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.

TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT:
If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
