Summary:
The Engineering Manager, Mechanical is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the mechanical engineering department.
This position provides technical and project leadership using hands-on approaches while exercising tactical flexibility and focusing on the strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
Guiding, Directing, & Motivating Team:
Coordinates the work and activities of assigned team to drive productivity to meet project goals and schedules.
This includes hiring, training, setting performance standards, and monitoring performance for team members.
Project Management & Customer Service:
Facilities communication among clients and mechanical engineers to ensure project specifications, budgets, and timelines are clearly communicated and understood.
Continuous Improvement:
Leads continuous improvement activities in quality, process improvements, and value engineering to enhance the capability of existing processes.
Quality Assurance:
Executes quality standards in engineering design, identifies non-conformance issues, and works with cross-functional teams to conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
Budgeting & Cost Containment:
Responsible for department budget development, tracking, and monitoring to ensure labor costs and design target are consistently met.
Position Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience:
At least 10 years of experience in Mechanical Design with 5 years of managerial experience.
Design:
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Engineering and Technology:
Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
Administration and Management:
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Customer Service:
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service.
This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for service, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Production and Processing:
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
Complex Problem Solving:
Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
Critical Thinking:
Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
Judgment and Decision Making:
Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
Management of Personnel Resources -- Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job.
